NEEDLE FELTED BIRDS
Sunday, March 15 1 PM - 3 PM Beginner - Friendly $55 per person We are delighted to welcome Keely Felton for a special needle-felting workshop focused on creating beautiful felted birds.Keely enjoys engaging her creative side through leatherwork and fiber arts. She began needle felting about 15 years ago while living in Seattle, after discovering the craft through a library book. Since then, she has created everything from bunnies and sheep to dogs, people, and even custom goats for a wedding cake topper. If you’ve never tried needle felting before, imagine sculpting with soft wool instead of clay. Using a special barbed needle, you gently poke and shape fluffy wool fibers until they bond together and become firm. With each small movement, your piece slowly takes form—rounding into a body, shaping into wings, and coming to life in your hands. It’s a rhythmic, surprisingly meditative process that invites you to slow down and focus. Keely's felted birds—her favorite subject and most popular creations—have been sold at local craft fairs and in shops such as Archipelago. Birds are also an ideal starting point for those new to needle felting, making this class perfect for beginners and experienced crafters alike. All materials will be provided. There’s no sewing, no glue, and no prior experience needed—just wool, a needle, and a bit of patience. Beginners are often amazed at how quickly simple shapes turn into charming little creatures. It’s both relaxing and deeply satisfying, especially when you hold your finished bird and realize you made it yourself. 🐦
